HP DeskJet 4155e Reviews

HP DeskJet 4155e Reviews

HP DeskJet 4155e is one of the most affordable inkjet printers on the market. An all-in-one printer with wireless connectivity can be used on Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, and Android. HP promises 6 months of free ink if you activate HP+. Printing 700 pages a month is possible with this printer.

Basic printing, including color documents, travel documents, and recipes, is best performed by the Deskjet 4155e. The printer offers color printing, copying, and scanning in addition to mobile faxing, wireless printing, and an auto document feeder. For someone who just joined college and is looking for an affordable printer, this is the printer for them.

Two reasons make this 4155e worth buying rather than another cheap option. One is it is being used by millions of users each day without any big complaints. Two is that it offers all the exciting important features everyone needs.

Pros

  • The XL and XXL sizes are available.
  • Good resolution and color depth can be found in the flatbed scanning device.
  • There is an automatic document feeding system.
  • It accepts photo paper sizes of 4″×6″ and 5″×7″

Cons

  • Color accuracy is bad
  • The page yield is terrible and the cost-per-print is disappointing.
  • Printing speed is very slow.
  • It has only one color cartridge.

Build Quality

The HP DeskJet 4155e and the HP DeskJet Plus 4155 has the same design to offer. The overall body feels solid and the power cord is replaceable, but it has no input tray, and the rear feeder feels flimsy to pull out.

While the sheets come out, you’ll notice its falling off from the output tray. The ink compartment is hard to access if you have large hands, and the printhead compartment is the only way to access the paper jams. The hinges on the scanner lid can’t be raised, so if you want to scan thicker objects, the hinges will remain partially open.

Cartridge

The ink cartridge system is not very impressive in this HP 4155e. If you print a lot, you must replace the cartridges frequently because the black and color page yields do not last very long.

When you set up your printer, you can enable HP+, which means that your printer will only accept HP products for the duration of its use. You can use HP 67XXL and the HP 67XL as they are compatible with this printer. However, HP didn’t mention any XXL format replacement cartridges.

Scanner Features

HP DeskJet 4155e features an automatic document feeder along with a flatbed scanner.  However, there is no duplex scanning feature, so manually dealing with multi-page double-sided documents can be inconvenient as you need to flip them over after scanning one side.

Additionally, expect to wait a while for long reports or multi-page signed contracts because it is slow to scan. Fortunately, it has a built-in optical character recognition (OCR) engine, allowing you to save documents as searchable PDF files.

Printing Speed

The printing speed of the HP 4155e is not up to par. If you’re printing long documents, you have to wait a while, but single-page documents take only a short time. It doesn’t make any sense if you’re in a hurry. Also, it doesn’t automatically print double-sided, so you have to flip the pages over when the printer asks you to.

The HP DeskJet 4155e performs very slowly while printing as it isn’t quite built for speed. HP claims that the 4155e’s black and color printing speed is only 3 PPM. This is what you get from the most affordable printer. Below I’ve explained how much it cost to print black, color, and photos in HP DeskJet 4155e.

Cost-Per-Print

A very affordable cost-per-print is what the HP 4155e delivers. Over time, running costs will add up because the cartridges need replacing frequently. But you can get a free six-month subscription to the HP Instant Ink service if you sign up for the printer being HP+ enabled. When the printer discovers that ink is running low, this subscription will send you ink.

However, black-only printing will cost 0.160$/print, color printing is nearly 0.279$/print and photo printing will cost as much as 0.739$/print. One Black cartridge will cost 15.99$ and one color cartridge will take 16.99$ from your wallet.

How it performs in case of Family/Office/Student Use

Family

For family use, the HP DeskJet 4155e is not recommended if you need to print a lot of documents faster. But, you can easily digitalize old photos with it because it has a flatbed scanner that has good scanning resolution and color depth.

But it’s unfortunate that it prints colored and black-only documents as well as photos at a slow speed which also looks inaccurate while printing them.

Small/Home Office

The HP DeskJet is not a good printer for small or home offices. It takes a while to print one-page documents, and it can be difficult to get paper jams or ink. It doesn’t support duplex scanning so you have to manually flip double-sided sheets over. When it’s time to print the other side, the printer will prompt you to flip the sheets over so it’s not automatic.

Student

The HP DeskJet 4155e is not a good printer for those students who will use this printer for group study. It has a poor cost-per-print for black-only and color documents, despite the fact that it has a flatbed scanner and automatic document feeder. Additionally, it takes a lot of time to print single-page documents. Double-sided printing isn’t automatic, so you need to flip pages when needed manually.
